At last, I blog again, after quite some time.
This time I want to share about 2 books, 2 different books but have quite similar point.
1. The Secret by Rhonda B.
2. Essence of Happiness by Dalai Lama.
Both books talked about some different things but they have 1 thing in commong, it is happiness.
It said that we should always try to be happy because by being happy we invite good things to our life. In contrary if we always have a bad feeling like sad, anger, despair, then we invite bad things to our life.
In practical, I my self has try it, trying to be happy, and yes, good things are happen in my life. But it is not easy to always being happy. Some times there are times where it is difficult to be happy even if we try to.
In the Essence of Happiness book it is said that being happy need practice, a constant long term practice of being happy, maybe we need to train more in order to be happy in any situation.
With this blog I'd like to share all the good things that I encounter, from good quotes to good books, from good food to good places, and other good things in life.

Sari Kepiting - Pademangan
This time I want to share my eating experience at Sari Kepiting, a seafood restaurant, not really a restaurant though.
The place is located opposite of Mangga Dua Square, on Jalan Gunung Sahari.
I went to this place on Friday afternoon after office hour, 29 June 2012, with my special friend ;-)
I never went to this place before as this place is recommended by my friend.
We ordered:
2 Rice.
1 Kangkung Belacan (Spinach cooked with belacan chili).
1 Gurame Bakar (Grilled Carp Fish).
1 Kepiting Soka Telor Asin (Salty Egg Crab).
1 Teh Tawar (Hot Tea).
1 Es Teh Manis (Sweet Iced Tea).
All ordered food taste good, I want to highlight especially the Salty Egg Crab, this crab is unique and it tastes very good.
Why unique? Because usual crab has a hard shell that make it difficult to eat it, but this crab, it has no hard shell, so we can just eat it right away.
The crab was caught while it was changing its skin / hard shell, in other word it was caught naked.
One minus point is the spinach taste like chili, not good.
Overall this place is good, order waiting time is not too long, and the price is reasonable, gotta come back here another time.
Again, I forget to take picture of the restaurant and the food, my bad. I think I should considering taking photos of food and places as a habit.

Le Seminyak - Pacific Place
This time I want to post a blog about food, especially for some restaurants I've recently visited.
Restaurant name is Le Seminyak, located at Pacific Place 5th or 6th floor, I forget which floor.
I visited this restaurant on Tuesday, 5th June 2012 in the afternoon, after office hour with office team.
The restaurant is designed with Balinese style, quite exotic. They're selling Indonesian food especially Balinese food.
It is more to group eating instead rommantic dinner.
The table is not like a common table, its like a cubicle with table on the center, and there are some pillows on the seat, quite comfortable.
The foods itself are good, some food we ordered as follows (I forget the exact name of the food so I just mention the general name).
Gurame Goreng (Fried Gurame Fish)
Tuna Bumbu Bali (Tuna Cooked with Balinese Spice)
Ikan Bakar (Grilled Fish)
Paket Nasi Kuning (Yellow Rice Package)
Nasi Merah (Brown Rice)
Sambal Goreng Telur (Egg Cooked with Sambals Sauces)
Sayuran (Vegetables)
Sate Bali (Balinese Satay)
Tahu Telor (Fried Egg and Tofu with Beac Sauce)
etc, I forget, quite lot of food we ordered actually.
For the drink, I ordered Berry Cooler (again I forget the exact name), nice drink, not too sweet dan not too sour, quite refreshing.
Overall this restaurant is good but quite pricey though (of course its Pacific Place, what do you expect!! The only cheap eating place on Pacific Place is the canteen for staffs that located on parking floor :D )
Too bad I forget to take picture when I visited the restaurant. Next time I will.

9 Tehnik Untuk Berhenti Berpikir Negatif
Artikel ini adalah saya salin dari catatan kecil saya yang berisi artikel-artikel yang menurut saya menarik dan memotivasi, saya lupa dari buku mana tepatnya artikel ini, seingat saya dari salah satu buku karangan Dale Carnegie. Monggo.
1. Hidup saat ini.
Memikirkan masa lalu / masa depan adalah hal yang sering membuat kita cemas. Jarang sekali kita panik karena kejadian masa sekarang. Jika Anda menemukan pikiran Anda terkurung dalam apa yang telah terjadi atau apa yang belum terjadi, ingatlah bahwa hanya masa kini yang dapat kita kontrol.
2. Katakanlah hal positif pada diri sendiri.
Katakan pada diri Anda bahwa Anda kuat. Anda mampu. Ucapkan hal tersebut terus-menerus, kapanpun. Terutama, mulailah hari dengan mengatakan hal positif tentang diri sendiri dan hari itu, tidak peduli jika hari itu Anda harus mengambil keputusan sulit ataupun Anda tidak mempercayai apa yang telah Anda katakan pada diri sendiri.
3. Percaya pada kekuatan pikiran positif.
Jika Anda berpikir positif, hal-hal positif akan datang dan kesulitan-kesulitan akan terasa lebih ringan. Begitu juga sebaliknya jika Anda berpikiran negatif. Hal-hal ini adalah hukum universal, seperti layaknya hukum gravitasi / pertukaran energi. Tidak akan mudah untuk mengubah pola pikir Anda, namun usahanya sebanding dengan hasil yang akan Anda petik.
4. Jangan berdiam diri.
Telusuri apa yang membuat Anda berpikiran negatif, perbaiki, dan kembali maju. Jika hal tersebut tidak bisa diperbaiki lagi, berhenti mengeluh dan menyesal karena hal itu hanya akan menguras waktu dan energi Anda, juga membuat Anda merasa lebih buruk. Terimalah apa yang terjadi, petik hikmah atau pelajaran dari hal tersebut dan kembali maju.
5. Fokus pada hal-hal positif.
Ketika kita sedang berpikiran negatif, seringkali kita lupa akan yang kita miliki dan lebih berfokus pada apa yang tidak kita miliki. Buatlah sebuah jurnal rasa syukur. Tidak masalah waktunya, tiap hari tulislah lima sampai enam hal positif yang terjadi pada hari tersebut. Hal positif itu bisa berupa hal-hal besar ataupun sekedar hal-hal kecil seperti "hari ini cerah" atau "makan sore hari ini menakjubkan". Selama Anda tetap konsisten melakukan kegiatan ini, hal ini mampu mengubah pemikiran negatif Anda menjadi suatu pemikiran positif. Dan ketika Anda mulai merasa berpikiran negatif, baca kembali jurnal tersebut.
6. Bergeraklah.
Berolahraga melepaskan endorphin yang mampu membuat perasaan Anda menjadi lebih baik. Apakah itu sekedar berjalan mengelilingi blok ataupun berlari sepuluh kilometer, aktifitas fisik akan membuat diri kita merasa lebih baik. Ketika Anda merasa down, aktifitas olah raga 15 menit dapat membuat Anda merasa lebih baik.
7. Hadapi rasa takutmu.
Perasaan negatif muncul dari rasa takut, makin takut Anda akan hidup, makin banyak pikiran negatif dalam diri Anda. Jika Anda takut akan sesuatu, lakukan sesuatu itu. Rasa takut adalah bagian dari hidup namun kita memiliki pilihan untuk tidak membiarkan rasa takut menghentikan kita.
8. Coba hal-hal baru.
Mencoba hal-hal baru juga dapat meningkatkan rasa percaya diri. Dengan mengatakan ya pada kehidupan, Anda membuka lebih banyak kesempatan untuk bertumbuh. Jauhi pikiran "ya, tapi...". Pengalaman baru, kecil ataupun besar membuat hidup terasa lebih menyenangkan dan berguna.
9. Ubah cara pandang.
Ketika seusatu tidak berjalan dengan baik, cari cara untuk melihat hal tersebut dari sudut pandang yang lebih postif. Dalam setiap tantangan terdapat keuntungan, dalam setiap keuntungan terdapat tantangan.

Some Best Books I've Ever Read - TMWSHF
I would like to share about a book that I read about some months ago in year 2011.
This book is titled The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, by Robin Sharma. Its a small and not so thick book. In my opinion this is a super great book, and I reccomend anyone to read it. This book is so inspiring yet entertaining, I enjoyed every chapter of it, its has a unique way like a self improvement novel. And while I was reading it, I feel like a great enlightening secret has been revealed to me.
This book tell us about the seven virtue of life.
Virtue 1: The Garden -> the mind.
Virtue 2: The Lighthouse -> goals, purposes.
Virtue 3: The Sumo Wrestler -> kaizen / continous improvements.
Virtue 4: The Pink Wire ->discipline.
Virtue 5: The Stopwatch -> the essence of time.
Virtue 6: The Roses -> doing good deeds to others.
Virtue 7: The Winding Path of Diamonds -> living in the now.
These are just the big line of the book and may not represent all of the precious informations inside the book. I reccommend you to read it and I'm sure it will be worthy. Let me know your thought after you read it. Good night.

At last I create my blog - Introduction
Hi guys! At last I create this blog after quite long thinking of a good name for my blog. This is my second blog though (I have a blog that I did not maintain very well, its like a blank blog).
Why thriving and striving? Well actually I want a name that represents an enthusiasm and energetic life, I've been trying a lot of name on the Blogger register page, and you know what... its all have been taken. Lucky me I found this thrivingandstriving is still not taken, and I took it. Also in life, we have to strive constantly in order to thrive to achieve the best of our life.
For me personally, its quite blurry to differentiate the meaning of thrive and strive as both words have quite same meaning, so I did some Googling, and I found some explanation to differentiate it:
thrive: more like to go toward a better state / success
(verb) 1. grow stronger
example: That young football player is thriving.
example: The bussiness is going to thrive.
(verb) 2. gain in wealth
strive: more like to do some works to achieve better state / success
(verb)attempt by employing effort

Oh for you who dont know me, I'm Indonesian guy, err I mean handsome Indonesian guy (haha just kidding), I love books and I read a lot of books from any categories comics, novels, nonfictions, so I will share some books that I have read and I will share my life experience, articles / stories that I considered good, and all the bad and good things that happen to me, I will share them all on this blog. Why thriving and striving? Well actually I want a name that represents an enthusiasm and energetic life, I've been trying a lot of name on the Blogger register page, and you know what... its all have been taken. Lucky me I found this thrivingandstriving is still not taken, and I took it. Also in life, we have to strive constantly in order to thrive to achieve the best of our life.
For me personally, its quite blurry to differentiate the meaning of thrive and strive as both words have quite same meaning, so I did some Googling, and I found some explanation to differentiate it:
thrive: more like to go toward a better state / success
(verb) 1. grow stronger
example: That young football player is thriving.
example: The bussiness is going to thrive.
(verb) 2. gain in wealth
strive: more like to do some works to achieve better state / success
(verb)attempt by employing effort
(verb)to exert much effort or energy
